James Robertson of Empower Mississippi has a column about a new state law called the Fresh Start Act, that will make it easier for formerly incarcerated people to enter strictly licensed occupations in the state.

In Alberta, the role of licensed practical nurses (LPNs) will be expanded as of February next year after the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta announced it will ease current regulations.

The Parkersburg News and Sentinel of West Virginia published an editorial condemning the state’s licensing requirements as too restrictive.

Additionally, Adam Millsap of Forbes wrote a column about the negative effects of West Virginia’s occupational licensing standards, suggesting that they bear some responsibility for lowering workforce participation.

In Florida, Governer Ron DeSantis is calling on state lawmakers to reduce occupational licensing requirements and implement global licensing that will make mobility for state residents more fluid.
