A wave of regulations are being cut back during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. The state of Illinois is now allowing out-of-state medical professionals to provide care and extending license restoration to those whose licenses have expired or are inactive. Modifications to licensing are also taking place in South Carolina and Ohio to make additional nurses and physicians available. The state of California is reducing hour requirements for nursing students in an effort to add an estimated 9,000 new nurses into the state’s health care sector.
A lot of change is happening New Jersey; Governor Phil Murphy recently signed an executive order allowing expired licenses and licenses from other countries to be recognized among health care professionals. The state is also loosening regulation on telemedicine and expanding the scope of practice for medical professionals. It’s important to remember even changes that seem minor can all help play a role in freeing up doctors and slowing down deaths in the tri-state area around New York.
