New Research

A new NBER paper examines the role of leverage in an economy, modeling out the theory of how assets can function as collateral. They find assets used as collateral are priced higher due to a shift in demand as theory predicts.

Another NBER paper analyzes several commonly discussed regulations on private banking with a model. They conclude banks operate differently from what social planners would choose due to not fully accounting for risks caused by runs.
