1. EU court rules against Dutch company trying to copyright the taste of a cheese spread. Taste is an “idea” rather than a specific expression of an original idea, and thus couldn’t be copyrighted.

2. Patent troll with portfolio valued at $2 folds. Shipping & Transit LLC was infamous for filing lawsuits against companies like Radio Shack and Nissan for patent infringement. After filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, its portfolio of over 60 patents were found to be worth less than a cup of coffee.
